User manual

Mercúrius is Neural Thinkers Lab's notary office (cartório) management system. It brings together, in one place, the front-desk schedule, requests in progress, certificates already issued, the office's fee table, and paper document digitization.

Each installation serves one notary office. The name and logo shown on screen come from that environment's configuration, so the system presents itself under your office's identity. When nothing has been configured, it stays neutral and simply says "Cartório", instead of wearing another office's name.

This manual covers the common path, and also states what isn't ready yet: part of the screens exist today as interface and don't yet act on the office's data. That list is at the end of the document and is worth reading before counting on any of them.

Who uses the system

At the bottom of the side menu, below your name, the system shows the role you signed in with: Administrador geral (General administrator), Administrador (Administrator), Operador (Operator) or Consulta (Read-only). If your role is something else, it shows up written as-is, instead of being swapped for a similar one.

The menu is the same for all of these roles. What changes is quick search: the Administração (Administration) group only shows up for whoever signs in as an administrator.

First access

  1. Open mercurius.ntlabs.dev. Any system address opened without a session takes you to the sign-in screen, and afterwards sends you back to the address you had requested.
  2. Choose how to sign in. There are three paths on the same screen:
    • the Google, Facebook, GitHub, LinkedIn, Banco do Brasil or Microsoft buttons;
    • Continuar com email (Continue with email), entering email and password;
    • passwordless, via Código WhatsApp (WhatsApp code — you receive six digits and type them into Digite o código) or via Link por email (Email link).
  3. Once signed in, you land on Início (Home), the system's home screen.

The sign-in screen doesn't offer account creation. Whoever doesn't have one yet creates it at /auth/register, entering full name, email and a password of at least eight characters.

Início (Home)

Início is the landing panel. From top to bottom it brings:

  • the greeting with your name;
  • Novidades e Avisos (News and Notices), where the notice about requests awaiting approval shows up. The number comes from the same source as the Dashboard, and when that source doesn't respond, the notice simply doesn't appear: no screen here states a number it hasn't measured;
  • Ações Rápidas (Quick Actions), with shortcuts to Nova Certidão (New Certificate), Novo Cliente (New Client), Agendar (Schedule) and WhatsApp;
  • Módulos do Sistema (System Modules), the cards that lead to each screen.

Dashboard

Dashboard shows the four indicators read from the system: Certidões Emitidas (Certificates Issued), Pedidos Pendentes (Pending Requests), Registros Civis (Civil Registrations) and Tempo Médio (Average Time) to complete a request. Below them, Pedidos por Origem (Requests by Source) breaks requests down by origin when that information exists.

Seus atalhos (Your shortcuts) is the row of cards you build yourself. Hover over a card and use the pin to pin or unpin it; Mais módulos (More modules) holds the ones you left out. The choice is saved to your account, so it travels with you to another computer.

Booking an appointment

  1. Go to Agenda (Schedule). The screen opens on the current month, with the period's four numbers (Hoje/Today, Esta Semana/This week, Confirmados/Confirmed and Receita Prevista/Expected Revenue) and the calendar next to the selected day's list.
  2. Click Novo Agendamento (New Appointment).
  3. Fill in the fields. Nome do Cliente (Client name), Serviço (Service), Data (Date) and Horário (Time) are required; the confirm button only enables once all four are filled. Telefone (Phone), Email, Duração (min) (Duration), Valor Estimado (R$) (Estimated value) and Observações (Notes) are optional.
  4. Click Criar Agendamento (Create Appointment).

The appointment then shows up on the chosen day, in one of four states: Agendado (Scheduled), Confirmado (Confirmed), Concluído (Completed) or Cancelado (Cancelled).

Tracking requests

Pedidos (Requests) lists requests with protocol number, type, requester, date, status and value. The Todos (All), Pendentes (Pending), Em Análise (Under Review), Prontos (Ready) and Entregues (Delivered) buttons filter the list, and the search field looks for protocol, requester or type within what's loaded.

Pedidos CRC is the same queue narrowed down to certificate requests at external notary offices. There the four cards at the top are the filter: clicking Aguardando (Awaiting) leaves only what's awaiting in the table. When the screen hasn't loaded the whole queue, the card shows a dash instead of a number, because a partial number wouldn't match the list right below it.

Looking up certificates

Certidões (Certificates) opens on Gestão de Certidões (Certificate Management), with totals by status (Total, Emitidas/Issued, Entregues/Delivered, Canceladas/Cancelled) and the list of recent certificates.

To find a specific certificate, type the number into Buscar por número de controle (Search by control number) and press Enter: the screen switches to showing that certificate, with type, copy type, format, status and issue date. Limpar (Clear) restores the full list. The two selectors next to it filter by status and by type (Inteiro Teor/Full text, Breve Relato/Brief report and Resumida/Summary).

Issuance itself doesn't start from this screen. Today it serves to look up and check what already exists.

Calculating fees

Financeiro (Finance) opens on Fluxo Financeiro (Financial Flow) and has two parts that work together.

The Calculadora de Emolumentos (Fee Calculator) answers what an act costs: choose the Tipo de Serviço (Service type), the Subtipo (Subtype) when there is one, check Urgente (taxa adicional) (Urgent — extra fee) if that applies, and click Calcular (Calculate). The result breaks down the amount into Base, Urgência (Urgency) and Total, and shows the legal basis when the tariff carries one.

The Tabela de Emolumentos (Fee Table) is the list the calculator pulls values from, with base value, urgency fee, and the Ativo/Inativo (Active/Inactive) mark per tariff. This table is the source to check whenever someone asks a price: don't memorize any value, because it changes.

Digitizing a document

  1. Go to Digitalizador (Scanner).
  2. Under Tipo de Documento (Document type), choose the type or leave it on Detecção Automática (Automatic detection).
  3. Click Iniciar Digitalização (Start Digitizing) and choose the image source: Câmera (Camera — webcam on a computer, device camera on a phone) or Arquivo (File), to upload an image you already have.
  4. Text recognition runs in your own browser, in Portuguese, and opens the review screen with Documento Original (Original document), Campos Identificados (Identified fields) and Texto Extraído (OCR) (Extracted text).
  5. Review before saving. Use Editar (Edit) to correct the text and Ver Original (View original) to compare against what recognition produced. Then click Salvar Documento (Save document).

A well-lit photo, an aligned document and no shadow greatly improve the result.

Two things to know before using this in real work. The reviewed document enters the Documentos Digitalizados (Digitized Documents) list on the screen itself and stays there only while it's open: it isn't archived into the collection. And the third image source, Scanner USB (USB Scanner), doesn't talk to any scanner; it returns a sample document.

Clients

Clientes (Clients) opens on Clientes Cadastrados (Registered Clients) and lists who is already in the office's registry, with CPF, contact, location and registration date. The search field at the top filters the list.

The Novo Cliente (New Client) form doesn't save to the registry yet: what you fill in there stays only in the browser and doesn't show up in the list. While that's the case, don't use this screen for real registration.

Hermes

Hermes is the system's assistant. He explains procedures, required documents, deadlines and how the screens work, and is honest about his own reach. What he doesn't do is written next to the conversation:

  • doesn't open, change or track requests;
  • doesn't issue certificates, deeds or powers of attorney;
  • doesn't look up the archive, finance or client data;
  • doesn't speak for the notary office, so nothing there is an official opinion or ruling.

He answers from general knowledge and can be wrong. Check the applicable rule and the record holder's guidance before acting. Começar outra conversa (Start another conversation) clears the history and starts from zero.

Digital front desk

Balcão Digital (Digital Front Desk) is the self-service screen, meant to sit on a kiosk at the counter. The citizen taps Solicitar Atendimento (Request Service), chooses under Escolha seu Serviço (Choose your service), and sees the list of documents required for that service, checking off what they have in hand. There's also an Atendimento Preferencial (Priority Service) button. After thirty seconds without a touch, the screen returns to the start on its own.

Use this screen for what it does well today: showing services and checking the required documentation before the person reaches the counter. The ticket number that appears at the end and the list printout are simulated: there's no real queue behind them, and nothing is printed.

Quick search and accessibility

Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux, Cmd+K on Mac, opens quick search from any screen in the system. It also navigates between screens, switches theme under Modo Claro (Light mode) and Modo Escuro (Dark mode), and signs you out under Sair (Sign out). It's the only keyboard shortcut in Mercúrius.

At the top, the Acessibilidade (Accessibility) menu adjusts Tamanho do Texto (Text size), toggles Alto Contraste (High contrast) and enables VLibras (Libras) — Brazilian Sign Language. Whoever navigates by keyboard finds, right at the start of the page, the Pular para o conteúdo principal (Skip to main content) shortcut.

Your account

Configurações (Settings) no longer keeps anything inside the system: the screen notes that your settings now live at accounts.ntlabs.dev and sends you there in a few seconds, or right away via the Ir para minha conta (Go to my account) button. That is where identity, security, billing and privacy live, for every product.

To sign out, use Sair (Sign out), in the menu that opens when you click your name at the bottom of the side menu.

Screens that don't yet act on the office's data

These screens already exist as interface, but what they show is sample content written into the system itself. They don't read from or write to anything at the office:

  • WhatsApp shows sample conversations. The message field clears the text on send, and nothing leaves the system.
  • Relatórios (Reports) shows metrics, charts and a list of fixed reports. The generate, view, download and schedule buttons aren't wired up.
  • Ajuda (Help) brings sample questions, tutorials and contacts. The phone numbers and email on this screen are for demonstration and don't respond: for support, reach whoever manages the office's account.
  • Validador de Assinaturas (Signature Validator), advertised in the notice on the Início screen, accepts both images, but the result doesn't come from any actual analysis. The same pair of images produces different scores on each attempt.

Your data

Mercúrius handles civil registry data, which is sensitive data. Access to the system is closed by default: any address opened without a session goes back to the sign-in screen.

The terms of use, the privacy policy and the cookie notice sit outside that rule: they're at /termos, /privacidade and /cookies, at the system's own address, and open without login. The cookie notice that appears on your first visit leads to the same place.
